The crusher, the famous grinder of stones and pebbles, is an absolutely essential machine in this sector. Its mission may include, among other things, reducing the size of a mineral so that the various components of the latter can be separated. The main action of the crusher is to reduce the size of a mineral in order to separate the various components. However this is not its only use. Crushers are divided into four main categories: primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary. Belonging to one or another of these categories depends on the size of the treated materials; each crushing plant has a "maximum size of raw materials" that cannot be exceeded.

The first crushers had a very simple design: the stones were smashed by a sort of large anvil. Changing with the times, crushing machines became more and more automatic and they have a considerably higher efficiency level than their ancestors. Modern crushers are equipped with a hopper that allows the truck to deliver the raw materials of various sizes. The raw materials then go down along a feeding plane at a controlled speed rate. A first screening is done at this time with the use of a special device that removes small materials from the mill. Once the grinding phase is over, the crusher channels the obtained pieces into a mill that has the task of transforming them into a finer mixture. This compound is finally sent through a grid, a sort of large strainer that filters everything. There are several types of crushers, including jaw crusher, cone crusher and impact crusher.
